THE POWER OF BEGINNING: A Return to the WORD

Genesis 1:1-3 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God SAID, Let there be light: and there was light.”

A return to the WORD of God is the beginning of experiencing the entire package. In the beginning God SAID and it was. The sayings of God became. The universe and all the created became by the word of God. He spoke things to existence. John attests that (John 1:3) All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. The word was the agency by which things became and still remains the agency by which things are sustained. (Hebrews 1:3) Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power . . . All things are sustained by the word of His power. Life sprung from the word (John 1:4) In him was life; and the life was the light of men. Nothing became without the word because the power of becoming was invested in the word. God spoke and things became and that was the beginning of life.

All things are sustained by the power of the word. That means there is a sustained speaking of God, or His word is constantly saying to all life to remain. A sustained speech of God. If existence came by the word, it is by the same word that 'new beginnings' can come about. A return to the Word of God is the surest way forward for the church. A return of the word of God to the pulpit, a sustained expositional preaching will bring life back to the church.

The church has been deprived of its life by the scarcity of the true word of God in the pulpit. The pulpit has become a playground of naive, unknowledgeable pastor who has no clue of what God is saying. For the beginning of knowledge derives from the fear of God, and the sure way of hearing from God's word through serious study. A duty that very few a pastor is willing to perform. The pastor has become but a prophet of 'a taking here and a pasting there' without critical analysis to arrive at the correct meaning of the word.

The man of God hears no word from God but led by personal interest, seeking to entertain rather than minister, to be popular rather than make God popular, to be unique rather than present the uniqueness of God, to be advance technologically rather than demonstrate the God of all knowledge etc. The pulpit has become a playground for fake prophecy rather than the sure word of God, a place for human businesses, selling human merchandise rather than doing the business of the Father- God.

It is high time the church return to the WORD of God, the sure word of prophecy. A return of the word of God spells the beginning of POWER, GLORY, GRACE, WISDOM, MERCY, ANOINTING, LIFE. It's the return to the word of God that will bring life back to the church. The word will bring grace, and we will see gracious deposits of God's glory among the people. There is a grace that comes with the word, a wind of grace that cannot be resisted, the wind of grace which brings revival. Revival may not come by meager word but by the truth presented openly to the people.

By the word comes a glory that is bright that sin cannot withstand. You remember Moses coming from the mountain and the glory was upon him for he was carrying the word with him. The Israelites could not look at him. He had to veil himself to come to the camp. It is the word that will bring such glory and power in the church that will subdue the sinner to repentance and the king to right execution of his divinely given duties.

With the word of God comes such ANOINTING that its train heals the sick because it is that WORD, Jesus Christ who heals. There is such a healing power in the faithful ministry of the word of God that sickness fear. The power of the word of God is the power for healing. Such authority is present in the word that subdue nations and its kings, which cause authorities and powers to bow. (Ephesians 1:20-22) “Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.”

In the WORD Jesus Christ, everything bows to the glory of God. The subduing of principalities, powers and authorities brings the glory. (Philippians 2:9-11) “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” God has exalted His word far above everything, every name, every power, every authority, that at the mention of the name of Christ knees are bent in subjection to God.

If we are going to see a subduing of kings, it won't come by our power but by the word. If the intellectuals are going to bow it is going to be by the wisdom of the word of God confound them (1 Cor.1:18--2:16). We will be able to dismantle arguments and imaginations of natural mind (2 Corinthians 10:4-5,) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

The dismantling of these arguments will not come by our own making. But by preaching Christ crucified. It is the best argument the world must hear, the discourse we must present, he Christ (the WORD) is the winning formula. He is the excellency of wisdom, the perfection of knowledge. No professor can win an argument against Him for He is the power of argumentation. Every profession must profess Him (WORD) for it's the origin of every profession. Life begun by and in the word. Nothing comes before it, nothing comes after. The word is the root of everything.

Looking at these facts, it therefore paramount for everyone to hoist the place of the word of God. The word must be the priority. If we return the word to the pulpit, life will spring again in the church and spread without touching every sector in the society. The root of governance is the word, when a preacher faithfully preaches God's word from the pulpit, government policies will be influenced business principles will be transformed, the medical field will be informed, the intelligence of the country is enhanced, and there is food security from the wisdom in natural agriculture and management of natural resources.

The wellbeing of the church is the wellbeing of the nation. The wellbeing of the church emanates from the WORD. It's the fountain of life, the spring of God.

From the word we can unpack glory, power, wisdom, grace, health prosperity etc. The word is the package God gave mankind to unpack all he needs. It's in God that we will find satisfaction. It is from the word that we will unpack God. It's the package that gives us God, God has given His word from where mankind can know Him. A sure package. The Bible is His Word, the very word of the very God. Unpack it for ultimate reality.

I call the pastor, the believer to a return to the WORD, the pure word God. The return of the word in the pulpit is the return of life. The return of the word of God in our family altars is the return of upright societies where morality prevails. The return of the word to the governance office is the return of a resilient prosperous nation established never to be moved. Return to the WORD
